Nokia 5185i Cell Phone Standby Time Test
Measurement of battery voltage vs. time

PURPOSE

To measure standby time of Nokia 5185i cell phone

EQUIPMENT

Phone: Nokia 5185i cell phone
Battery: Extended Lithium Ion 900mAh (BLS-2N)
Charger: Sanyo Desktop, no model number, charges phone and spare battery
Voltmeter: Radio Shack Digital Model 22-802
Timer: Stopwatch

TEST

1. Battery was charged full, discharged full using charger discharge button, charged full (Was previously recharged 3 times since new)
2. No calls to or from phone during test
3. Battery was removed and voltage measured at different times
4. Battery voltage graphed vs. time below

RESULTS

Standby time was 74 hours (3 days 2 hours) vs. rated 2.5-4.5 days and 70-100 hours
First low battery beep occurred at 71.5 hours, 3.55 volts
2.5 hours from last battery beep when phone turned off automatically
Starting = 4.11 volts,  Ending  = 3.11 volts

CONCLUSION

Rated standby time of 2.5-4.5 days and 70-100 hours is accurate
Tested standby time was 74 hours (3 days 2 hours )
